August 2010   Meetings: 2nd, 9th (PLC & CM only), 23, 30 Monthly Activities: Troop activity planning for 2010-2011, Occoee Rafting   Aug 27-29 - River Rafting - Our crew will leave the Kmart Parking Lot at 5:30 PM.  (across from Back Yard Burger on Royal Oaks & Center Point Rd.  The weekend weather is perfect for camping and rafting.  Mid 80s to mid 60s temps, low humidity.  You may want to add a light jacket to your gear.  Check out the Basic camping and rafting list download in the right column.  Also, every participant must complete two waiver forms.  One for BSA-Troop 135 and one for the Outfitter  (Ocoee and/or) Hiwassee.  Scout Coordinator: Jacob McCoy Adult Guide: Mr. Poe. Waiver Madness! Anytime a nonscouting, third party vendor is used on a trip, a waiver form for the "third party" or outfitter in this instance is required.  This usually only applied to two annual trips the Troop takes each year; Ski Trip and Rafting Trip.  It is also BSA's policy to complete a waiver for each activity.  Most participants will complete two waiver forms.  Thoses that are rafting both the Ocoee and Hiwassee must sign a form for each outfitter. __________________________________________________ District Calendar - Training & Events  Aug 7 & 21 (both required) OLS Training for Scoutmasters & Assistant SMs.  New adult Boy Scout and Venture Crew leaders must take this course to be eligible for the position.
